When I was a kid, I spent hundreds of hours playing RollerCoaster Tycoon, and I always dreamed of building my own real-life amusement park. That game taught me so much — and in large part thanks to it, 13 years later, in 2015, my brother and I opened Conundroom Escape Rooms in Redmond, WA.
Now I've decided to build my own Tycoon — one that captures all the knowledge and experience our team has gathered over the years of running this business. I hope it teaches and inspires many of you, too!
Good luck! — Aleksei
📊 Real business model: The math behind this game is based on a real escape room business with 10 years of operating data. Pricing, seasonality, staffing costs, marketing returns — it's all real, with a few tweaks for better gameplay.
🎯 Your goal: Build and run a chain of escape rooms. Show the highest annual profit by December — your score goes to the Leaderboard.
💰 Watch your balance: If your cash drops below your fixed costs (rent + salaries), the game is over. You'll get up to 3 emergency loans to recover — use them wisely.
⏱️ One year here ≈ ten years in real life. In this game you can build in a year what takes a decade in the real world. But that's what games are for.
